    Baglioni Resort Sardinia

Geared towards couples and families, this new resort opened in June 2021 on the breathtaking island of Sardinia and delivers true Italian luxury, with a sophisticated setting and the perfect mix of beach, pool, spa, and outdoor experiences.

    Location:

The island of Sardinia, about 120 miles off the coast of Italy, is gorgeous—and this resort, in the Tavolara Marine Protected Area in the province of Sassari on the northeast coast, elevates the experience even further, thanks to the natural, unspoiled landscape. Joining Baglioni’s other properties in some of Italy’s major cities, like Venice and Rome, this new resort is located on an almost 10-acre private estate. Getting there, you can arrive via the Olbia Costa Smeralda airport, which is a quick 20-minute ride from the resort.

    Vibe:

With views of the stunningly blue sea, this resort does Italian luxury at its finest: a winning combination of modern style coupled with that laid-back feel you want while on vacation. There are 78 rooms and suites, including junior suites and family rooms, the latter of which feature spacious and great-for-kids verandas. The larger suites include the Tavolara and Maddalena suites, both of which have two bedrooms, as well as huge (we’re talking close to 600-square-feet) private terraces with views of the water.

    Why We Love It:

Sometimes it’s hard to find the right mix of relaxation and activity while you’re away—especially in a place like Italy, which is so steeped in culture and experience. Which is exactly what we love about this resort: You don’t have to choose. You can hike nearby Mount Nieddu in the morning before relaxing with a cocktail on the sun terrace of the 25-meter pool in the afternoon. You can go horseback riding on the beach and then visit the Finnish sauna at the resort’s spa. And that’s just the start of the activities available, which includes everything from mountain biking and canoeing to kitesurfing and snorkeling, as well as seeing the famed flamingos of Tavolara, spending the day at the super close Lu Impostu beach, and playing a round of golf. Plus, the resort is particularly family-oriented, with not only family rooms, but two kid-friendly pools, and a Kids Club. As far as dining goes, there are three restaurants at the resort, including the must-visit Gusto by Sadler—the resort’s signature spot—under the direction of Michelin-starred Chef Claudio Sadler. Be sure to ask about the tasting menu, which includes creative fresh pasta and seafood dishes. And the aforementioned spa is also smart to put on your list, with its steam bath, sensory showers, and, of course, slew of relaxing treatments.
