    The Woodward, Geneva

This completely renovated hotel on Lake Geneva, which opened in September 2021 as the 10th property in the Oetker Collection, offers an exceptional wellness experience (hello, 13,000-square-foot spa), along with standout dining and activities, complete with unparalleled views of both the lake and the Alps beyond.

    Location:

Looking to stay right on Lake Geneva? Then this hotel’s location right on its banks is the place to be. Not only are you close to the action of the city, but you’ll be able to take in views of both the lake and iconic Mont Blanc. The hotel is a quick 15 minute ride from the Geneva airport, and if you’re coming from further afield, it’s about a 3 hour drive from both Zurich and Turin, Italy.

    Vibe:

Sophisticated and classic are the words that come to mind when taking in this post-Haussmann style hotel, which dates back to the turn of the 20th century. Now, on the heels of a gorgeous renovation by architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, the property marks the first all-suite hotel in the city, with a total of 26 suites to choose from. With a calming color palette and pops of pastel pinks and blues, the suites offer amenities ranging from fireplaces to balconies to separate living room areas, with the vast majority (we’re talking 21 out of 26) with views of the lake. Plus, there are two signature suites, the largest of which—the 3,000+-square-foot Royal Suite—offers Parisian vibes, along with two balconies and a dining room that seats 10.

    Why We Love It:

The all-suite concept is one of the things we love about this property, but it’s far from the only. The wellness experience, with its centerpiece 13,000-square-foot Spa Guerlain at The Woodward, definitely delivers. The spa features six suites, along with multiple saunas, steam rooms, and Swedish baths, with treatments including the “Spirit of Lake Geneva”, which promises “a perfect blend of harmony and sensoriality for ultimate relaxation.” (The description alone sounds pretty relaxing to us!) Add to that a 24-hour fitness center and a 21-meter pool—the longest in the entire city—and unwinding will come easy. Dining, with its focus on local ingredients, deserves the spotlight. Headed by Executive Chef Olivier Jean, there are two on-site restaurants to choose from: L’Atelier de Robuchon, with its signature open kitchen (and 36-seat counter surrounding it) and the vegetable-forward Le Jardinier, Michelin-starred Chef Alain Verzeroli first European location. And then, when you’re ready to explore the city, the many signature Swiss experiences the hotel offers let you see the city from a whole different vantage point. For example: Visit nearby vineyards, see watchmaking up close, or learn about Stettler & Castrischer’s chocolate making. Plus, there’s plenty of on-the-water fun to be had (see our tips below!) and more.

    Why You Should Go F1RST:

    F1S Tips:

Before you head out on Lake Geneva for a day on a boat—something the hotel can arrange—ask for a chef-prepared picnic to take with you.
