    Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid

After being closed for renovation for three years, the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid reopened in the spring of 2021. And it delivers on all aspects: From the lux, beautifully redesigned rooms and suites to the stellar dining experience headed by three-star Michelin chef Quique Dacosta, the experience has been taken fully to the next level.

    Location:

To experience the culture of Madrid, this location really can’t be beaten. In the center of the city, it’s also in the “Golden Triangle of Art”, with the Museo Nacional del Prado, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museo Nacional all in easy walking distance. (The Prado is just a quick 2-minute walk!) Plus, you’re also close to El Retiro Park and The Royal Botanical Garden, along with lots of shops and restaurants. The Madrid-Barajas Airport is a short, 15-minute drive.

    Vibe:

Founded in 1910 by famed hotelier César Ritz, this hotel has been a mainstay on the Madrid scene for more than a century. And the recent renovation—a three-year process—showcases its historical significance (including resorting features like the historical glass canopy in the Palm Court restaurant), and also offers lots in the way of contemporary amenities and style. The 153 rooms and suites have been reimagined by Paris-based interior design house Gilles & Boissier, with a refined style and decadent details. Consider the Turret Suite, set in the hotel’s unique turrets, or the 1200-square-foot Presidential Suite, which boasts living and dining rooms, with views of the garden and Prado Museum.

    Why We Love It:

The enviable location and historical significance alone is enough to make us want to book a stay here—but the flawless renovation has definitely kicked things up a notch. That includes a focus on food and drinks, with a total of 5 dining experiences on the property, all overseen and developed by famed, three-Michelin starred Chef Quique Dacosta. Enjoy dining outdoors in the well-manicured garden at El Jardin del Ritz or have traditional afternoon tea at Palm Court. And then there’s the hotel’s elegant, signature restaurant, Deesa, which offers tasting menus, private dining options, and the exclusive “Hidden Table” experience, giving you the opportunity to meet the chef and have the sommelier choose wine pairings from their extensive list. We also love the property’s new fitness and wellness program. Partnering with the wellness gurus at The Beauty Concept, find everything from massages and facials, to a full-on fitness center, indoor pool, and vitality pool.
