Wellness warriors, this one’s for you: Miraval, the famed wellness retreat and spa, recently opened its newest—and second—outpost just outside of Austin, Texas. With a 20,000-square-foot spa, a 10-acre farm, and more fitness, meditation, cooking classes and activities than you can count, the property takes the “Everything’s bigger in Texas” mantra to heart—and we are here for it.
Nestled on 220 acres outside the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve and only 30 minutes from downtown Austin, Miraval Austin’s enviable natural backdrop—a view of Lake Travis and home to a Cypress Creek Farm & Ranch—make it perfectly situated for guests to unwind, relax, and reconnect.
There’s a reason the original Miraval in Tucson, Arizona is a must-stop for wellness seekers—and this newest addition continues in that tradition. With innovative spa treatments, inventive activities (archery, anyone?) and a focus on farm-fresh food, you can truly immerse yourself in the moment. Adding to the peaceful feel: Along with the spa pool, equine programming and meditation classes, the 117 rooms and suites are decked out in calming colors, with lots of local touches—plus blackout shades and super-sleepable bedding.
Whether you’re in need of a digital detox (::raises hand::), want to indulge in a massage or body scrub or are just looking for a weekend-long reason to relax, this wellness retreat has it all—and so much more. The whopping 20,000-square-foot Life in Balance Spa has 30 different treatment rooms where they take a “farm to treatment table” approach. And they really mean that: The Wild Harvest Herbal Healer massage incorporates herbs that you pick yourself. But it’s not all massages and facials (though we’re not complaining). There are tons of other activities outside the spa, from fitness classes like cardio drumming and yoga, to an outdoor challenge course or getting your feet wet during Stand-up Paddle boarding. And since having a great meal or an amazing cup of coffee can be a renewing experience in and of itself, there are three on-site options. That includes Miraval’s Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen, which offers cooking classes and demos—and Hilltop Crossing Kitchen which sources its food either locally or from the resort’s farm.
As an inclusive resort, all packages include shared transfers from Austin Airport, an array of complimentary wellbeing activities, lectures, fitness and yoga classes, all healthy meals, snacks and drinks of the non-alcoholic variety and nightly resort credits. Book through First in Service and receive an additional $100 resort credit per person per stay.

Post that last IG story and then check your phone at the door—or, more likely, in your provided “cell phone sleeping bag.” You can only use your phone (or iPad, computer etc. etc.) in certain areas, giving you a chance to unplug.
